Do incentives improve local community collection of mosquito sound data using smartphones? We are studying this in our new trial in DRC.

We are currently carrying out our second incentive payment trial in Tanzania. This time the participants will receive airtime credit as incentive in their personal phones.

Our colleagues at Kinshasa School of Public Health and University of Bandundu in DRC are running a trial to establish how well local communities can set up and run the HumBug System. More info on the "News' section!

We are very pleased to announce that our new paper 'HumBugDB: A Large-scale Acoustic Mosquito Dataset' has been accepted at the 35th Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems 2021. Congratulations to Dr Kiskin and the team!

We are running a community trial comparing the performance of HumBug System to traditional mosquito sampling methods such as CDC-LTs and Human baited nets. We are also gathering feedback from the community as to how easy it is to run the HumBug System.

Our Randomised Controlled Trial has started in Kivukoni, Milola, Minepa and Mavimba thanks to our colleagues at IHI. We are studying if incentives improve local community collection of mosquito flight tones using MozzWear app.

We have recorded over 6900 mosquito flight tones from 23 mosquito species and our database continues to grow. Our colleagues in DRC and Tanzania have been working very hard to achieve this objective.
